Open Road

December 31, 2011

“Afoot and lighthearted I take to the open roads
Healthy and free, the world before me.
The long brown path before me leading
wherever I choose.
Henceforth I ask not good fortune,
I myself am good fortune.
Henceforth I whimper no more,
Postpone no more, need clothing,
Done with indoor complaints, libraries,
querulous criticisms.
Strong and content I travel the open road.”

Walt Whitman, from: Leaves of Grass

A video journal I put together as an assignment for my Backpacking II class. One of the most beautiful experiences  in Holy Cross Wilderness in White River National Forest.
